This question comes up more than you might expect, and I think I know why. The word “personalised” has been used so loosely over the last few years that people have started to assume the real version must involve a needle. So when someone spots Bioniq GO and reads that the formula is matched to them, the first thing they ask me is whether there is a blood test lurking somewhere in the process.
Short answer: no. There is no blood test, no finger-prick kit, no sample to post off, no appointment to book. You answer a questionnaire, and your answers decide what you are sent. That is the whole of it.
But “no” on its own is a slightly unsatisfying answer, because the real question underneath is usually a fair one: if it isn't measuring anything from my body, how personalised can it honestly be? That deserves a proper reply rather than a one-word one.
What the assessment actually asks you
The free Wellness Assessment is a short set of questions you can do at the kitchen table with a cup of tea. It is not a quiz you can pass or fail, and there is no right answer to give. It asks about the ordinary stuff:
- How you eat. Whether you cook most nights or grab things on the way home. Whether you eat meat, fish, neither.
- How your week runs. Sleep, activity, how much of your day is spent sitting down, how much is spent on your feet.
- What you would like to support. Everyday energy and focus, skin, hair and nails, an active lifestyle, long-term wellbeing.
- Your age and stage. Which matters more than people give it credit for — what suits you at 28 is not automatically what suits you at 52.
Those answers put you with one of 40 formulas. Not a tub you guessed at off a shelf, and not an infinite bespoke recipe either — a match from a defined set. If you want the step-by-step of how that matching works, I went through it in how the Bioniq Wellness Assessment builds your formula.
Why the questionnaire route makes sense
I want to be careful here, because it would be easy to overclaim in either direction. A questionnaire is not a laboratory and nobody is pretending otherwise.
What it is, though, is a sensible way to narrow things down — and it is worth comparing it to the honest alternative rather than an imaginary one. The realistic alternative for most people is not a full clinical workup. It is standing in an aisle, reading three labels, picking the one with the nicest packaging and hoping. Against that, a structured set of questions about your diet, your routine and your goals is a meaningful step up. It is at least asking about the things that actually differ from person to person.
There is also a practical argument I find persuasive. A process that requires a test is a process most people never start. Kits sit in drawers. Appointments get rescheduled. Whereas ten minutes with a questionnaire is something you can genuinely finish this evening, and a supplement you never begin taking supports nothing at all.
But what if I already have blood results?
Some people come to me having had bloods done through their GP, and they want to know whether that changes anything. Two things worth saying, and I will keep them clean.
First: if a doctor has given you results and guidance, that conversation belongs with them, not with me and not with a questionnaire. I sell nutrition products; I am not qualified to interpret anybody's test results and I would not want to be.
Second: knowing more about your own situation is never a disadvantage when you sit down to take the free Wellness Assessment. It simply means you answer the questions with a clearer head about what you want to support. The assessment does not replace anything your GP tells you, and it is not trying to.
What you get once you're matched
Worth spelling out, because this is the bit that decides whether the whole thing is any use to you day to day:
- Up to 23 science-backed nutrients in one daily dose. One thing to remember in the morning instead of five.
- Premium Swiss granules, not pills. Which matters more than it sounds if you have quietly given up on large capsules.
- Vegan-friendly. One fewer label to squint at.
- Delivered on a subscription. An honest admission that supplements only earn their keep when you take them consistently.
Bioniq was founded in London in 2019, and its personalised nutrition business is now part of Herbalife — which is why I mention it at all alongside the rest of what I stock. If you would rather build your routine from single products you choose yourself, my targeted nutrition range is there for exactly that, and the two approaches sit together perfectly well.
Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
So — no needle required
If the blood test question was the thing holding you back, you can let it go. The assessment is free, it takes a few minutes, and finishing it does not commit you to anything. You can read your result, have a think, and decide afterwards.
That is genuinely the easiest place to start: build your personalised formula with Bioniq GO and see what comes back for you.
